Richard Berner is Executive-in-Residence at the Center for Global Economy and Business at the NYU Stern School of Business, and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Economics. Berner served as the first Director of the Office of Financial Research (2013-17), and was Counselor to the Secretary of the Treasury (2011-13). He was Co-Head of Global Economics and Chief U.S. Economist at Morgan Stanley (1999-2011), held similar positions at Mellon Bank, Salomon Brothers and Morgan Guaranty Trust Company, and served on the research staff of the Federal Reserve (1972-80).
